Cooking with Justine Schofield

Justine Schofield is here to bring a bit of everyday gourmet to your kitchen! Exclusive menu available in deliveries from 6th September.

We just love a good get-together with friends. So we’ve invited Aussie culinary talent Justine Schofield into our kitchen to rustle up some recipes you can cook in yours.

Much like the rest of Australia, we’ve been charmed by Justine’s easy-going style and approachable recipes since she popped onto our screens in the first-ever season of MasterChef way back in 2009.

Following that early success, she parlayed her popularity into her very own TV series Everyday Gourmet on Network Ten, proving none of us can get enough of Justine’s European-style recipes presented in the most honest, down-to-earth and achievable way.

Of course, Justine has also written four excellent cookbooks and, in case you missed it, she was a contestant on season 5 of I am a Celebrity Get Me out of Here. Luckily for us (and you), she didn’t ask to get out of the QuiteLike kitchen. Instead, she created six absolutely delicious spring-inspired recipes for you to DIY at home.

You’ll have the opportunity to cook with Justine for six weeks as part of our Quite Good Mates collaboration, available to order from the 4th of August. Each week, you can choose from a selection of Justine’s favourite weeknight recipes. And, boy, are they good. We can confirm, we’ve tried them all. More than once.

We love Justine’s style when it comes to weeknight cooking. Like us, she’s all in on eating seasonally and simply, but she brings with her a little je ne sais quoi (that loosely translates as ‘a little something-something’) from her French-infused background. Having a French mum taught Justine about classic European cooking, but she took that grounding and mixed it with her Aussie upbringing to create an elevated yet laidback approach all of her own.

“My personal food philosophy has always been about very simple, attainable recipes. Not being an actual chef, I really hone in on making sure cooking isn’t intimidating to the average cook. For me it’s about simplifying everything and making mealtime easier for individuals and families,” says Justine.

Perhaps you’ve noticed, that’s exactly how we do things here at QuiteLike, which is why we’re such good mates with Justine. We’d go as far as to say it’s a perfect pairing. But, happily, it goes both ways, because as a busy mum, Justine relishes the time-saving ease of QuiteLike meal kits that remove the mental load of meal planning.

“I’m a foodie, I’m a cook. I teach people how to cook every single day of the week, I've got a whole show about it. But QuiteLike has actually pushed me to become more creative, because the recipes are so well written and interesting. You can rely on them and it just takes out that tedious part of going to the supermarket. But you’re still cooking from scratch. At this time of my life, it’s perfect. I literally save two hours from going to the shops, not to mention all the meal-planning.”

Naturally, we agree with Justine on this and many more things. And it just goes to show that you can be a talented cook with your own TV show and still have to wrangle with the weeknight hustle – just like the rest of us.

So now’s the time to join the movement that does dinner better. A good place to start is with Justine’s beautiful, spring vibe-y recipes that will push you out of your cooking rut. We can’t wait to hear which are your favourite meals from her collection.
